Abstract

A great deal of the country’s energy resources are wasted for a number of reasons including inappropriate technology, low price of energy, and carelessness in energy consumption. Women can change the course of risky behaviors against environment. We decided to inform rural women, of the optimized energy consumption patterns and examine the effect of material and immaterial incentives on them. This was a semi-experimental study. There was no sampling, so all the women of Cheshmeh Sefid village in Kermanshah, who were over 13 years of age and made up a population of 68 women were studied. The instrument of the study was a 23- item questionnaire. Then they were randomly divided into two groups. One group was studied using material and the second used immaterial incentives. Improvement of these women’s awareness proved a positive effect. Regarding the awareness raise, there was no significant difference between learning and the kind of incentive. Material incentives proved to be more effective than immaterial incentives.
