A Study on the Role of ICT-Based Education in Decreasing Environmental Challenges (with Emphasis on Urban Environment)

Abstract

Expanding of human communities and urban development led to some phenomena such as the destruction and pollution of environment. This problem is not only limited to one country or a specific territory, but also the entire world, and contains too many issues. Thus, the different experts have different solutions.  Accordingly, the purpose of this article is to study the role of ICT-based education in reducing the environmental crisis. This study used a descriptive analysis of the data collection library documents, including identification, investigation, classification of information, analysis and summary information on the subject of study and how to improve their environmental challenges using ICT-based education is discussed. The results showed that,  the educational system can eliminate distance and reduce migration from the rural areas to urban areas for achieving high-quality educational system and prevent the consequences of population density in cities, and help to reduce environmental problems, especially in urban environments due to the characteristics of ICI- based education systems such as flexibility in time and place. Also, the knowledge is the key to environmental protection, ICT- oriented educational system can provide environmental awareness to all supported learners, in order to improve the environmental challenges.
