Cultural understanding of societies is necessary to protect and use these ecosystems for a sustainable benefit in the exploitation of cultural services. In the mangrove forests of Khamir-Qeshm, cultural services, especially tourism, play a very important role, Therefore, the level of perception of local communities and tourists was investigated regarding the biological sensitivities and cultural services. Data collection has been conducted by survey method and using questionnaires, interviews, and observation tools. Data analysis is quantitative and uses inferential statistical tests. The statistical population and sample size of the study include local communities and tourists. The understanding of local communities due to their dependence on mangrove forests in providing daily needs, and on the other hand, the sense of belonging to a place living in the vicinity of these natural and valuable habitats, has led to an acquired understanding of them and a sense of responsibility regarding protection and efforts have increased to restore and extend these forests. In contrast, the understanding of the tourist communities is at a low level due to the few experiences in visiting mangrove forests, the lack of a sense of place belonging, and low awareness of biological sensitivities and cultural services. In addition, each dimension of cultural services examined has an impact on the understanding of local communities and tourists, and a significant difference can be seen among these dimensions. Accordingly, by creating awareness and increasing the stakeholders' understanding of the importance and biological sensitivities of these ecosystems, while reducing the pressure on natural resources, it can improve their attitudes and tendencies towards preserving forest lands and protecting more of these resources.
