[English]

The concept of a circular economy has been promoted as a response to resource scarcity and as a catalyst for transitioning toward a more sustainable economic system. In addition to prioritizing diverse production activities, sustainable rural development policy encourages the adoption of a circular economy. This study examines the effect of the circular economy (recycling, production, and reuse) on sustainable rural development by measuring the role of entrepreneurial empowerment. The current research follows a descriptive-survey design. The statistical population consists of 143 rural entrepreneurs selected through convenience sampling. Participants were provided with questionnaires on production, attitudes toward recycling, reuse, entrepreneurial empowerment, and sustainable development. SPSS 23 and SMART-PLS 3 software were used to investigate the research objectives and analyze the data. The results indicate a direct and significant relationship between circular economy components (reuse, production, and recycling) and sustainable rural development at a significance level of 0.001. The circular economy has an effect on sustainable rural development with a coefficient of B = 0.451. Additionally, 45% of the total effect of the circular economy on sustainable rural development is mediated by entrepreneurial empowerment. This means that sustainable rural development is highly influenced by both the circular economy and the mediating factor of entrepreneurial empowerment. Understanding the opportunities created by the circular economy and the factors that empower entrepreneurs can have a positive impact on the implementation of circular business models and, consequently, on sustainable rural development.
