[English]

The purpose of this descriptive-survey research was to investigate the environmental education needs of rural women in Markazi Province using two needs assessment models, Borich and Quadrant. The statistical population of this research consisted of rural women in Markazi Province and agricultural extension experts. Using a random sampling method, 298 rural women were selected. Due to the limited number of extension experts, 40 experts participated in this research. To collect data, a researcher-made questionnaire was used. The validity of the instrument was checked based on the content validity index, and it was found to be 0.81.This research was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, environmental educational needs were extracted based on the research literature, and then the educational needs of rural women were determined from their own point of view using a questionnaire developed according to the Borich model. The results showed that, according to rural women, seven educational needs had the highest priority. In the second stage, the needs from the perspectives of women and experts were compared using the Quadrant model. The results showed that most of the educational needs identified by women and experts were consistent with each other. Therefore, to make extension education programs more effective, it is necessary to pay attention to the views of rural women and extension experts simultaneously, which is possible through the application of the Borich and Quadrant needs assessment models.
